The role of coal in the electricity industry

People would not have enjoyed their present human civilization without electricity. Electricity is everywhere: it helps light up houses, buildings, streets; electricity to help provide heat for civil and industrial purposes; electricity is used to power most home appliances, office equipment, and factory machinery. Improving access to electricity around the world is also a key factor in closing the rich-poor gap.

Coal  plays a huge role in the electricity industry worldwide. Currently, 38% of the world's average electricity production is generated from coal-fired thermal power  . This figure is even greater in a few countries with well-developed thermal power industries.
