What is Biomass?

Biomass is the English term for biomass. In which, biomass is a general term used to refer to biological materials derived from life, living organisms, mostly plants or materials derived from plants.

Biomass is considered as a renewable energy source, which can be used directly, indirectly once or converted into other forms of energy such as biofuel in three ways: thermal conversion, chemical conversion and bio-conversion chemical.

How many types of biomass?

1) Wood and agricultural products

2) Solid waste

3) Landfill gas

4) Alcohol fuels.

How to apply biomass in industry?

Biomass is converted to energy through various processes, including:

  • Direct combustion (burning) to produce heat
  • Thermochemical conversion to produce solid, gaseous, and liquid fuels
  • Chemical conversion to produce liquid fuels
  • Biological conversion to produce liquid and gaseous fuels

Direct combustion is the most common method for converting biomass to useful energy. All biomass can be burned directly for heating buildings and water, for industrial process heat, and for generating electricity in steam turbines.

In Vietnam, Thuan Hai is the leading enterprise in the application of  biomass with an annual capacity up to 300,000 tons as a commitment of Thuan Hai in the green energy transformation process to achieve a more sustainable development future.
